Bail AdviceIf the bail is reasonable or we think it might go higher if he stays in, or if immigration (ICE), probation or parole might place a hold on the person, our lawyers can arrange for a bail bondsman to contact you so that bail can be posted immediately. If it appears to us that the bail will be lowered or the client will be released on his or her own recognizance before the next court date, our lawyers will advise you of that fact. It is then your’s and the client’s decision whether to stay in jail until the next court date. Bail Reduction OptionsIf the bail is high and you can’t afford a bondsman, we can post a property bond if the client or his friends or family have a home or land with sufficient equity (the difference between what the property is worth and what is owed on it). This normally costs about $350 which is substantially less than the 10% charged by a bail bondsman. Release on Personal Recognizance BondIf the client is being held on a federal charge, our lawyers will appear at the arraignment and secure his release on a personal recognizance bond. This does not require any money for the bond but in certain circumstances might require a friend or family member to co-sign. Immigration and Bond IssuesIf immigration has put a hold on the client, we work with immigration lawyers to have that hold removed or a bail set in the immigration court.
Experience with and knowledge of the court system enables our criminal defense lawyers to get our clients out of custody as quickly as possible, so that they are in the best position to defend themselves.
